I wanted to work for a year myself... But I'm gonna be at uni for 7 years, so that seemed like I was just prolonging the time between now and getting a job.

I think that if you worked for a year, you'd be better positioned at the end of it to know what to do. As it is, it can be hard to know.

Also take a think about where you want to be 5-10 years from now, and pick a course/program that will get you there, rather than choosing the course first, because sometimes it can get you nowhere.
